Use Your Messages Efficiently

Six habits that make each message go further.

Every plan includes a number of messages per day, for each app you build. These are the habits that get the most out of them.

1. Start a new chat when you change topic

This is the biggest one. Leo re-reads the whole conversation on every message. A long chat means Leo reads more each time, works slower, and is more likely to get distracted by something you discussed an hour ago.

When you move to a new task, start a new chat. Finished the invoice page and now want a login screen? New chat. Your work is saved either way, and Leo still has your app in front of it.

2. Connect your own ChatGPT plan

If you pay for ChatGPT Plus or Pro, Leo can run on your own subscription instead of your app's credits. It takes about five clicks: the purple + button, then Model, then pick a "my ChatGPT plan" model, then sign in with the code shown.

Read the step-by-step guide, with video.

3. Say the whole change in one message

"Add a customer page" costs the same as "Add a customer page with name, email, phone and company, sorted by newest first, and a search box at the top." The second one gets you there in one message instead of four.

4. Use Plan Mode for anything big

For a large change, switch to Plan Mode first. Leo writes out what it intends to do so you can correct the plan before any code is written. Fixing a plan costs one message. Fixing the wrong feature costs many.

5. Point at the thing instead of describing it

Use the element picker to click the button or heading you mean, then say what should change. It is faster than "the blue button near the top of the second section", and Leo cannot pick the wrong one.

6. Upload the file instead of pasting it

Attach spreadsheets, screenshots and documents with the paperclip. Pasting a long block of text into the chat makes every later message in that chat bigger.

If you run out for the day

Your work is saved. Your messages reset the next day, and every plan above Free includes more of them per day, on more apps. See the pricing page for what each plan includes, or read Plans and Pricing.
